Karim Benzema is ready to tell Real Madrid that he wants to move to Arsenal once the Gunners make a £50m bid for his services, according to the Daily Star.
The potential fee – which would make the 27-year-old the most expensive player in the club’s history – would tempt the Frenchman to the Emirates as the Star claim that it would provide an indication of how highly he would be regarded as part of Arsene Wenger’s side.
The Star suggest that, should the north London outfit make such a bid, the biggest stumbling block could be whether their Premier League rivals Manchester United decide to make a move. Like Arsenal, their priority in the final days of the window appears to be finding a new striker.
Nevertheless, he may still feel more tempted by the Gunners as, like the fee, their lack of business in the window really highlights how much they feel that Benzema is the final piece in the puzzle.
