Liverpool may have thought that their hopes of landing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta had been dashed once the 32-year-old entered talks with Atletico Madrid, but it appears that they may still be in the race, according to the Metro.
The Metro report that the Italy international’s proposed switch back to his former club is in doubt, despite PSG still being willing to let Motta move on this summer.
The news that their reported target is still on the market comes just hours after the Liverpool Echo revealed that the Reds are happy to listen to offers for long-serving midfielder Lucas Leiva, after he was left out of the squad to face Stoke City on the opening day of the season.
While they already have plenty of men that can take the Brazilian’s place should the Merseyside club receive a bid of £8m – which the Echo suggest is the asking price that Brendan Rodgers has placed on Lucas – you would imagine they would happy to bolster their midfield with the addition of a two-time Champions League winner.
