Young Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori has outlined his desire to stay at the club and fight for his place in the starting line up having spent the past two seasons out on loan, the Daily Express reports.
The Portugal under-21 international made his way to Anfield in a £7m deal from Sporting Clube de Lisbon back in 2013, but is yet to make his first team bow for The Reds (via Express).
Instead, Ilori has been farmed out to Spain and France over the past two seasons with Granada and Bordeaux respectively in order for him to get some significant game time under his belt.
Another loan move for the youngster would seem logical this season, but he has insisted that he is not prepared to make the move elsewhere as he wants to stay and fight for his place under Brendan Rodgers.
“I want to play for Liverpool,” he said. “I don’t want to be in Liverpool just to be sitting around.
“My objective is the same as every other player, we all want to play so everyone’s going to fight for their place.
“I joined Liverpool two seasons ago to play for Liverpool, that is my number one objective so I’m going to do everything to make that happen.”
