Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is set to undergo a medical ahead of a loan move to former club AC Milan, according to the Daily
The Express report that the initial deal will see the 25-year-old return to San Siro on a season-long loan, and should Milan’s chief executive Adriano Galliani get his way, the Reds shall be paying half of his £80,000 a week wages for the duration of his stay.
However, if the Italy international can rediscover the form that tempted the Merseyside club to take a punt on him in the first place, it seems more than likely that Milan – who have no European football to look forward to this campaign following a disappointing season last time out – will try to bring him back to the club permanently.
But he faces a difficult task if he wishes to break into Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side. The Rossoneri have already added both Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano this summer, meaning that if Balotelli lives up to his off-field reputation, or replicates his form for the Reds – having scored once in 16 Premier League games – Mihajlovic will have little problem exiling him from the squad in the same way Brendan Rodgers has.
