Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is trying to remain quiet on the possibility of signing Barcelona winger Pedro, the Daily Express reports.
The Red Devils are widely expected to pounce for the player’s signature in a £22m deal before the end of the transfer window (via The Express).
United are eager to plug the gap left by Angel Di Maria, who left to join Paris Saint Germain in a £44m deal earlier this month (via Sky Sports).
The rumours of his move has been gathering pace all week, but the Dutchman is remaining steadfastly tight-lipped on the status of the deal when he was asked to comment (via BBC).
“You have to ask Pedro, not me,” he said.
“I don’t mention anything before he has signed. When he has signed I come to you and say: ‘Hey, Pedro is here.’
“That is not the case and we shall wait and see.”
The Spanish international starred from the bench in Barcelona’s amazing 5-4 victory over fellow LA Liga giants Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday.
With the score locked a 4-4 he popped up with a late winner, but caused a storm after the final whistle when he was pictured refusing to celebrate (via Eurosport).
