Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly offered Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez the chance to line up alongside Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay in a terrifying looking front three, that he hopes will convince him to complete a summer move to Old Trafford, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Pedro’s £22m release clause has prompted some heavy interest from the Red Devils, though The Telegraph report that Barca coach Luis Enrique is still keen to keep hold of the player.
The 27-year-old is apparently set on moving on this summer in search of more game time away from the monopoly held by Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, but could make his final appearance for the club against Roma in the annual Gamper Trophy game on Wednesday.
The Spanish international is said to have told his close friends that he is eager to make the move to Old Trafford this summer, after Van Gaal laid out his plans to use him in a front three alongside Wayne Rooney, and exciting new signing Memphis Depay in a new look 4-3-3 formation.
Van Gaal is keen to stop tinkering with his system in order to establish an attack similar to that of Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo that won the Premier League title back in 2008/09.
Furthermore, Van Gaal believes Pedro can chip in with his fair share of goals. Having found the net 98 times in 318 appearances in Spain, he would certainly add that threat from out on the right, thus taking the burden off Wayne Rooney’s shoulders.
