Manchester United have forced Paris Saint Germain to cough up an extra £3m to sign winger Angel Di Maria after the player posted a picture of himself with the club’s Qatari owners despite not having official permission to be in the country, the Daily Mirror reports.
The Argentine international finally underwent his medical on Tuesday in Doha (via Daily Mirror), amid fears that United were ready to pull the plug on the deal until more satisfactory terms were met.
Van Gaal had initially demanded £43m for Di Maria, but following the players antics over the past two weeks had prompted him to drive the price up to £46m.
Di Maria was fined two weeks wages for not flying out to join his United teammates in the United States during their pre-season tour, and though he had been given permission to speak to PSG chiefs, he hadn’t been given permission to travel to Doha.
