Manchester United are apparently ready to announce the £28m signing of Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan this week, according to a report in the Metro.
Louis van Gaal has been linked with making a move for the Argentine international for the best part of the summer, but the Metro claims that a deal is set to be wrapped up in the next couple of days.
According to the Daily Express, super agent Jorge Mendes flew to England recently to put the finishing touches on the move, and that club are expecting to announce the deal, possibly before the end of the week.
An obvious talent coveted by a host of other top sides, The Express claims that he has rejected a move to Liverpool and La Liga giants Valencia in order to link up with the Red Devils, making this quite the coup for manager Louis van Gaal.
The Metro also claims that the deal has nothing to do with Pedro’s proposed move to the club from Barcelona, as he is also set to sign in the near future.
