Manchester United are preparing to make a final £58m offer for Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller, according to the Metro.
The Metro claim that manager Pep Guardiola is reluctant to sell the 25-year-old, and that reluctance has probably increased following the World Cup winner’s scintillating start to the season.
Although Muller could not prevent the Bavarian side losing the German Super Cup on penalties to Wolfsburg, he has scored three goals in his first two Bundesliga games, including a brace during the 5-0 thrashing of Hamburg on the opening day.
While Louis van Gaal’s men have enjoyed a very promising start to the campaign, and sit third in the Premier League table, they have only scored twice so far. While they boast creativity right through the side, including the exciting full-backs Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw, they will clearly struggle when their strikers are off the boil.
The Red Devils desperately need another option before the window closes, and if it is Muller, not only will they boast one of the most ruthless forwards in Europe, it will also allow Wayne Rooney to play his more natural game.
