Manchester United are ready to go up against Premier League rivals Liverpool in the hunt to sign Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, according to the Metro.
Liverpool had emerged as shock contenders to sign the Germany international earlier in the week (via Metro) after speculation circulated that he was ready to leave the Spanish capital just 12 months on from joining from Bayern Munich.
The Metro claim that a £35m deal had been touted, but now a report in the Daily Express states that the Red Devils are ready to kick start their own move to bring him to Old Trafford.
Though it doesn’t seem likely that the midfield ace will be going anywhere this summer, the news will undoubtedly get fans of the two Premier League giants excited.
He would be a welcome addition to either team, and his ability to sit in the middle and pick passes out for fun would help to get the most out of the creative talent in front of him.
Kroos made a total of 55 appearances for Real last season, scoring two goals.
