The Sergio Ramos transfer saga that seemed to be done and dusted – after Marca claimed that he had agreed to remain with Real Madrid until 2020 – could be set for another amazing twist.
According to the Metro, one of Spain’s premier radio stations Cadena SER has claimed that the 29-year-old has not signed a new contract with Los Blancos, and was still interested in making a switch to Manchester United.
And while Marca’s suggestion that the deal was done would have initially given the Red Devils practically no hope of landing the defender, it appears that the premature report may have now had completely the opposite effect.
Cadena SER suggest that Ramos is angry with the reports (via Metro), which may help Louis van Gaal, if he wishes to try and attempt to convince the Spaniard to move to Old Trafford.
Had the Dutchman made Ramos his number one target to bolster his defence ahead of the new season, the news that he looked set to stay at the Bernabeu would have probably frustrated him immensely, as the energy they would have invested in trying to sign him could have been spent on trying to get other players through the door.
However, there may just be some hope that this one could still happen.
