Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make a bid for Lazio’s attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson, according to the Metro.
The Red Devils have been long-time admirers of the 22-year-old, with the Metro claiming that they made an £18m offer last summer. However, that bid was knocked back by the Rome-based side.
And while the Brazilian is perhaps not the out-and-out forward that United fans are crying out for before the window’s closure, he brings an abundance of creativity, as well as versatility, that would make him a very exciting signing indeed.
He was hugely valuable to the Italian side last year, scoring ten and bagging 11 assists. That form was a major factor behind the club’s 3rd place finish, which helped them qualify for the play-off round of the Champions League.
And should they manage to see off the challenge of Bayer Leverkusen – against whom they hold a 1-0 lead following the first leg – Lazio’s resolve to keep hold of Anderson may increase, and may force United to pay an extremely high price.
