Manchester United already look set to lose one midfielder to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but Michael Carrick has ensured that they will not be losing another.
According to the Daily Express, Angel Di Maria is set to join the Ligue 1 side, but Laurent Blanc also wanted to sign the veteran midfielder from his former club.
However, the Express report that the 34-year-old has turned down the chance to move to the Parc des Princes, having only a new deal with the Red Devils in March.
The former West Ham man has enjoyed nine years at Old Trafford, and has cemented a reputation as one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League.
Despite entering the twilight of his career, Carrick continued to be Louis van Gaal’s most consistent performer last season, as he helped the side return to the top four.
Nevertheless, he could have been forgiven for thinking that he may be better off seeking a move elsewhere following the arrivals of both Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin. However, he has decided to remain loyal to United.
