Valencia-based TV station SillasGol have claimed that Nicolas Otamendi’s move to Manchester United is set to be completed imminently, and they allege to have proof that that is the case, according to the Metro.
The Valencia defender has been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, but the Metro report that Louis van Gaal put Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos higher on his list of targets. However, with the Spaniard set to sign a new bumper contract at the Bernabeu, attention has switched back to Otamendi (via Metro).
And the Spanish station have now claimed that the transfer will be completed in the very near future, with station director Nacho Cotino claiming to have legal and tax-based proof that Otamendi will soon be joining the Red Devils (via Metro).
Although the Argentinian has not played for a club with quite as much prestige as Ramos has, you could certainly argue that the Premier League side are making a better move going after the former Porto man.
The 27-year-old is two years younger than the Madrid man, and enjoyed arguably the best season of his career last term. His form helped Valencia finish fourth in La Liga, and earned him a place in his country’s Copa America squad that would reach the final of the tournament, having been snubbed ahead of last year’s World Cup.
