Pedro reportedly decided to turn down a move to Manchester United after seeing the way that former teammate Victor Valdes was being treated by Louis van Gaal, the Metro report.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for much of the summer, but as things came to a head, the Barcelona man changed his mind and decided to join Premier League rivals Chelsea, with Valdes’ situation firmly in his mind (via Metro).
The 33-year-old was David de Gea’s understudy following the completion of his move to England in January, and played in the final couple of games of the season after his countryman sustained an injury.
However, his time with the Red Devils appeared to be over after he engaged in a public spat with his manager (via Telegraph). Van Gaal revealed that the former Barca stopper was free to leave during this window after he allegedly refused to play for the reserve side, to which Valdes responded on Twitter by highlighting how he had featured regularly for the team since his arrival.
And those accusations appear to have triggered Pedro’s decision to move to Stamford Bridge, in an apparent show of support for his long-time colleague.
