A report in the Daily Express is claiming that Barcelona forward Pedro will join Manchester United on Wednesday after featuring for the Spanish giants in the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday.
Should it go ahead, the move would bring a close to weeks of speculation surrounding his future after being linked with an exit from the Nou Camp for most of the summer.
The Express states that United reps flew to Barcelona earlier in the week to finalise discussions over a deal for his signature, and Spanish newspaper Marca is reporting that Tuesday’s meeting with Sevilla in Tbilisi will be the 28-year-old’s final game with the club.
Though United have the money from the sale of Angel Di Maria to PSG (via Sky Sports), the Marca report suggests that neither club are in a hurry to complete the deal with the deadline for registering players for the upcoming season not falling until August 31.
Earlier in the week, Pedro’s Barcelona teammate Javier Mascherano hinted that the deal was almost done by saying: “Well, I wish he would stay but this is just a personal opinion.
“But if he leaves, Barcelona have lost a player that has been very important in recent years, a good professional, a good kid, a professional who is always keen on giving his best, both on the pitch and outside.
“Obviously when someone like him leaves the club it is something we feel because it is not easy to find players with his humility and eagerness to improve after having won so much.
“I have a good relationship with him and I wish he would stay.”
