Arsenal have been given a huge boost in their hunt for Karim Benzema, after Spanish giants Real Madrid told them they could have him if they table a £45m bid, according to the Metro.
The Frenchman is said to be manager Arsene Wenger’s number one target this summer, with the Metro claiming that a bid of £31.3m has already been made for his services, only that offer was rejected with Real telling The Gunners that he would be going nowhere.
However, a fresh report in the Daily Mail is stating that the Spaniards have had a change of heart and will sell the 27-year-old to Arsenal for a club record £45m.
That means that he would come as more expensive that his former Real Madrid teammate Mesut Ozil, whom Arsenal paid Real Madrid £42.5m for just two years ago.
It is believed that Benzema is the final piece of the puzzle missing that would make the club serious title contenders.
