Real Madrid will happily allow Keylor Navas to join Manchester United as long as it means that David de Gea is heading in the opposite direction, according to Marca.
Following the sale of club legend Iker Casillas, and despite the arrival of Kiko Casilla, Marca claim that Rafa Benitez plans to use the Costa Rica international as his number one during this season as things stand. The 28-year-old has been the former Chelsea boss’ favoured choice during pre-season.
However, his role in the side could change drastically if they manage to sign the Red Devils’ keeper. Not only would he find himself down the pecking order, Marca suggest that he would be put on the transfer list.
Encouragingly for Louis van Gaal, Los Blancos are also willing to let Navas move to Old Trafford as part of a potential deal for the 24-year-old (via Marca).
Although the Dutchman plans to re-evaluate de Gea’s position should he still be with the club when the transfer window closes (via Daily Express), it seems inevitable that the Spaniard will move to the Bernabeu at some point.
And with that in mind, perhaps United would be better off engineering a deal for de Gea to leave this summer while they can snap up a top keeper in exchange, rather than losing him for absolutely nothing next year.
