Super agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly in Manchester to try and tie up David de Gea’s Real Madrid move, according to the Metro.
The move appeared to be at a stalemate, the Metro claim, as the two clubs failed to agree a fee. The Red Devils will only let the 24-year-old move to the Bernabeu this summer if they receive around £33m. However, Los Blancos are unwilling to pay such a large figure for someone that has just one year left on his deal at Old Trafford (via Metro).
The Metro report, however, that Spanish newspaper Marca are claiming that the deal is done, and Mendes – who is in England working on a deal for Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi – is working to finalise de Gea’s move back to the Spanish capital.
At the risk of this saga dragging on until next summer, Louis van Gaal has seemingly made it clear that if de Gea wants to go, he will do everything in his power to make it clear to Madrid that all they need to do is match their asking price and the player is theirs.
Despite being the club’s best player last year, de Gea has found himself out of the matchday squads for both games so far this season, in what seems to be an attempt by van Gaal to rush proceedings rather than let them play out for the entirety of this campaign.
