Mauricio Pochettino is on the verge of landing one of the most exciting youngsters in Europe currently, after the Daily Mail reported that Tottenham had agreed a £10m fee with Lyon for striker Clinton N’Jie.
The Mail report that the Ligue 1 side could receive an extra £1.5m in additional payments. The 21-year-old will soon arrive in London to undergo a medical before finalising his move to White Hart Lane (via Mail).
Although he is naturally a forward, N’Jie was often used in a wider position last season for Hubert Fournier’s side, as Alexandre Lacazette starred down the middle. Nevertheless, he still managed eight goals in 33 games as the French side pushed Paris Saint-Germain almost all the way in the title race.
While Spurs already have three first-team strikers at the club, Pochettino would have been desperate to bolster his ranks before the end of the window. Harry Kane enjoyed a sensational year last season, but there is little indication about how he will perform now he is the focal point of the side.
Meanwhile, very few Spurs fans are likely to be upset if the other two – Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado – don’t feature prominently during this campaign, having failed to capture the imagination during their times with the club.
