While Mario Balotelli’s days at Liverpool appear to be numbered, it seems that the Italian could still be plying his trade in the Premier League this season.
According to the Daily Express, newly-promoted Watford plan to make a stunning move for the 25-year-old as they look to improve their chances of remaining in the top flight for a second consecutive season.
The Express report that while Sampdoria appear to be the favourites for his signature, the Hornets are hoping to win the race to the former Manchester City man’s signature, and are willing to meet the Reds’ £10m asking price.
And it appears that Balotelli is open to a move to Vicarage Road, having held talks about a switch to Quique Sanchez Flores’ side (via Express).
Based on his struggles on Merseyside last season – having only managed one goal in the league – as well as his reputation, it is safe to say that it is a risk on Flores’ part to bring him to the club. However, joining a lower-profile team may just bring the best out of him, as it should allow him to concentrate on his football.
Or Balotelli could just continue the controversy that has plagued his career, and oversee Watford’s relegation back to the Championship.
