Arsenal could be set to welcome back key centre-back duo Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Stoke City, according to the Daily Express.
Both players have been struck by injury problems during the early stages of the season, leaving Arsene Wenger with Calum Chambers and Gabriel as his back up pairing in the heart of the defence.
Koscielny was forced to miss the encounter with Liverpool thanks to a back injury, but made a swift return the following week against Newcastle (via Express).
However, he was left out of the France side that overcame Serbia on Monday night, giving rise to fears that he has sustained another setback on his road to fitness.
However, a report in the Daily Telegraph claims that he should be fit enough to take part against The Potters.
Mertesacker has missed Arsenal’s previous two games with a virus (via Express) but hasn’t had to worry about the international break having retired from national team duty on the back of winning the World Cup last summer (via Guardian).
