Arsenal are reportedly preparing to make an ambitious bid to finally land Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, according to the Metro.
The Frenchman was one of several names that were heavily linked with an Emirates switch in the summer, but like all the others – apart from Petr Cech – his move to north London failed to materialise.
While the Metro suggest that Los Blancos do not plan on selling the 27-year-old, the Gunners are still considering a bid.
The revival of their interest comes after Arsene Wenger’s side largely strolled to a 2-0 win over Stoke City. However, while Potters keeper Jack Butland was in incredible form, and kept the home side at bay on many occasions, concerns still remain about whether Arsenal have the killer instinct in front of goal that will allow them to challenge for the title.
While the Gunners had 29 attempts throughout the game, only 12 were on target, arguably highlighting the need for someone of Benzema’s calibre.
