Arsenal are preparing to battle against both Manchester City and Juventus in the race to sign Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco, according to the Metro.
The Gunners are keeping an eye on the 23-year-old’s situation at the Bernabeu, Spanish outlet Sport suggest (via Metro), and may be tempted into a January move should he become available.
There is little question that Isco is one of the most exciting young players in Europe currently, but there is a danger that he may watch his career stagnate if Rafa Benitez is not able to provide him with regular first-team football.
Although the season in Spain is only two games old, it looks as if – with the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and James Rodriguez also battling for a place – he is not an automatic starter in the Madrid side.
However, Arsene Wenger faces a difficult challenge if he wants to sign the Spain international.
The Metro report that Serie A champions Juve made an enquiry regarding the midfielder in the summer, and may well follow that enquiry up with a firm bid should their talisman Paul Pogba depart.
The Citizens can also not be ruled out of the race. A move to the Etihad would give Isco the opportunity to work with his former manager at Malaga, Manuel Pellegrini. Goal reported that the Chilean tried to bring the playmaker to the Premier League in 2013, before he decided to move to the Bernabeu.
