Arsenal reportedly sent scouts to watch Juventus defender Daniele Rugani as they consider whether to make a January move for the 21-year-old, according to the Metro.
The Gunners made a £15.4m bid for Rugani in the summer, the Metro claim, and while a move never materialised, Arsene Wenger remains interested in a potential deal.
The north London outfit sent representatives to watch the former Empoli man in Italy’s under-21 clash with Slovenia (via Metro), and if they were impressed by his performance during the 1-0 victory, they may have already decided to go back in with another bid during the next window.
Despite not featuring in a single game for the Old Lady so far this season, the Metro seem to suggest that Massimiliano Allegri is unwilling to let Rugani leave permanently, but may be more open to the idea of a loan move.
If Wenger can convince the Serie A champions to part with Rugani permanently, it’ll be a very good bit of business for the Gunners.
The youngster is an extremely well-disciplined defender, as he did not collect a single yellow card last season, despite newly-promoted Empoli going into most of their games as the underdogs, and thus, having to soak up plenty of pressure.
