Arsenal are set to make another move for Juventus striker Simone Zaza when the transfer window reopens in January, according to the Metro.
The Metro claims that Arsenal attempted to make a last ditch attempt to sign the 24-year-old on transfer deadline day, but were forced to back down due Juve’s £22m asking price.
That meant that Arsenal ended the window with Petr Cech as their only signing of the summer, though Sky Italia (via The Guardian) believe they tried to change that on the final day, with Wenger now prepared to go in for him again in the new year.
Juventus would likely be willing to part with Zaza should Arsenal cough up the £22m (via Metro), though they may also be open to a loan deal, too.
Zaza, an Italian international with five caps to his name, has spent the past two years with Sassuolo, where he bagged an a not unimpressive haul of 21 goals in 69 games.
And though those numbers don’t suggest that he will be prolific, he mostly features as a second striker with a smaller side that aren’t equipped with the kind of creative talent that Arsenal have at their disposal.
