Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that it was a lack of quality that prevented him from splashing the cash this summer, according to the Metro.
Gunners fans were livid with Wenger for only bringing in Petr Cech for £11m at the beginning of the transfer window and then leaving his check book closed for the remainder of the transfer period.
Speaking with the press on Thursday, he alluded to the fact the he didn’t believe there was anyone out there that was available to improve his double FA Cup winners.
“In the end, the solutions were not what we wanted. We looked but you have to find an efficient solution,” he said.
“Look at what happened on the transfer market and it tells you there is a shortage out there. The solutions we had were not convincing at all.
“The good news about the window shutting is that we can now focus on the football.”
