This summer saw Premier League clubs spend more money than ever before, and for all that cash spent, it brought in some serious quality.
Below, we’ve charted the best business of another crazy summer of spending to compile the best XI to join Premier League clubs.
See what you think…
GK: Petr Cech
Chelsea to Arsenal, £11m
Though the veteran stopper may have got off to a shaky start at The Emirates, there’s no doubt that he’ll prove an unmitigated success. In him, Arsenal finally have the world class ‘keeper they’ve needed for so many years, even if nobody expected him to be their only signing of the summer.
LB: Joe Gomez
Charlton to Liverpool, £3.5m
Highly-rated at Championship level, the youngster was brought in with many expecting him to be loaned straight back out. However, he has taken to top flight football like a duck to water, and has suddenly found himself to be the club’s first choice left-back.
CB: Micah Richards
Man City to Aston Villa, free
Richards’ career has stalled somewhat over the years, but with his talent never in doubt he has been given a golden opportunity to resurrect his career in the Midlands. He’s already been named as the club’s captain and has made a more than positive impact with his fledgling leadership skills.
CB: Virgil Van Dijk
Celtic to Southampton, £11.5m
Yet to make his debut as he arrived on deadline day, the Dutchman’s performances north of the border caught the attention of a number of Premier League sides last term, and now that he has his move he will likely be included in the Oranje national side in the very near future.
RB: Mateo Darmian
Torino to Man United, £12.7m
The Italian international with bags of class and continental style, he has already proved to be a hit and has shown exactly what having a natural right-back playing in that position can bring to the side.
