Chelsea are said to be weighing up a move for FC Porto midfielder Yacine Brahimi when the transfer market reopens in January, according to the Metro.
The Metro states that The Blues are already looking into possible reinforcements in the new year following their unsatisfactory start to their title defence, collecting just seven points from their first eight games.
And now, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, manager Jose Mourinho has set his sights on a deal to bring Algerian playmaker Yacine Brahimi to Stamford Bridge.
However, despite their apparent interest, Brahimi does have a stunning £44.1m release clause installed in his current contract, meaning he won’t come cheap if they do decide to lodge an official offer.
Chelsea had been hoping to take a closer look at the 25-year-old during this Tuesday’s Champions League clash with the Portuguese giants, but may have to wait as he has been rated doubtful following a knee injury.
