Here is Wednesday’s news and gossip concerning Chelsea:
Chelsea failed in their attempts to land Juventus star Paul Pogba, Everton centre-back John Stones, and Paris Saint-Germain youngster Marquinhos, according to the Daily Mail.
The inability to bring the trio in to Stamford Bridge meant that it was a surprisingly low-key deadline day for the Premier League champions.
Two players that did arrive on the final day of the window however, are defenders Papy Djilobodji and Michael Hector, BBC Sport report.
The pair both joined for £4m, and while the former Nantes man will join up with the squad straight away, Hector will return to Reading for the rest of the season on loan.
The Blues have an incredible 33 players now out on loan, according to the Daily Mail.
Victor Moses’ move to West Ham, as well as Hector’s return to the Madejski Stadium were two of seven further deals to happen on deadline day.
Lucas Piazon will be playing alongside Hector for the Championship side this season, and he explained upon completing his move that he believes that it was a good move for him if he wants to play for Jose Mourinho’s side, the Daily Mail report.
“It is important for me to have a good season. I have to do a good job, score goals and show people what I can do. For me it’s good to stay here in Reading, close to Chelsea and experience English football,” he said.
Finally, Chelsea have unveiled plans of what Stamford Bridge will look like once it has undergone its redevelopment to become a 60,000 capacity stadium, the Daily Mirror report.
