Chelsea have seemingly jumped ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal in the queue to sign Spanish prospect Dani Ceballos, according to the Metro.
The Blues have been keeping an eye on the 19-year-old since 2014, and are now ready to make a move for the Spain under-21 international (via Metro).
The Daily Mirror previously reported that the Real Betis star will be available on a free next summer when his contract expires, but any interested side can try and make a move happen in January for as little as £7.5m as that would trigger his release clause.
The news of Jose Mourinho’s interest may alert Chelsea’s two Premier League rivals into making an approach of their own.
If they are reluctant to pay the price that would activate his buyout clause, the pair could take a gamble and hope that he has not agreed a deal with another club by the time his contract runs out, but that could leave the path clear for the champions to swoop in.
