Chelsea are said to be looking to beat Premier League rivals Arsenal to the signature of Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to the Metro.
The Metro states that the Portuguese international has been long linked with a move to Arsenal, who ended up only bringing in Petr Cech during the summer transfer window.
And it now looks as though Mourinho could be ready to pile more misery on to the long suffering Arsenal fans by rivalling the Gunners for Carvalho’s signature, according to Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb.
Carvalho was named as the Player of the Tournament at the Euro U-21 competition earlier in the summer, where he helped Portugal to an impressive second place finish (via Metro), thus further enhancing his already big reputation.
The Metro also cite Liverpool with an interest in the defensive midfielder, but backed with a big chequebook and a desire to get back on top it would be no surprise to see Chelsea become the frontrunners for his signature.
