Real Madrid megastar added fuel to the fire in stories linking him with a return to Manchester United by hinting that he wants to line up alongside former strike partner Wayne Rooney once again, the Daily Express reports.
Ronaldo left Old Trafford in 2009 to sign for Spanish giants Real Madrid in a then world record £80m deal (via Express). After bagging 118 goals for the Red Devils he has since gone on to break a number of personal and team records.
In the meantime, Rooney has become United’s third all-time leading goalscorer, netting 235 times.
Rumours linking Ronaldo with a return to Old Trafford have been flowing for some time now (via Express), but those rumours are expected to go into overdrive once again after the Portuguese said of Rooney on BBC documentary, Wayne Rooney – The Man Behind The Goals: “The power of Wayne Rooney is his mentality and his strength – he never stops,” Ronaldo said.
“He’s a fantastic team player and he scores goals.
“I miss playing with him. Maybe in the future we will play together again.
Reports in Spain have previously linked him with a £92.5m return to Manchester, and though Paris Saint Germain are thought to be in the driving seat should he leave the Spanish capital, but it is widely regarded that he would prefer to return to his former stomping ground.
