Liverpool are apparently preparing to table an offer for Schalke striker Leroy Sane after seeing one £11m bid for his services turned down over the summer, the Metro reports.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers already invested heavily in his squad during the transfer window, but the Metro claim that he still feels Liverpool are left wanting for specialist wide players.
And a report in German publication Bild believes that Rodgers has targeted Schalke’s Leroy Sane as the man to correct that problem and will go in with a fresh offer after seeing an £11m offer for the player turned down already.
The Metro states that the 19-year-old is highly rated by Schalke and has become a firm fan favourite thanks to his burning pace and tricky footwork, which came to the fore after he bagged his first goal in the Champions League against Real Madrid last season.
The Metro believe Liverpool may make another offer for the teenager when the transfer market reopens in January, though Schalke will be reluctant to let him go as he has started the campaign by averaging a goal every game.
