Manchester United are considering a possible move for Barcelona full-back Adriano as cover for the injured Luke Shaw, according to the Metro.
Shaw is out for most of the season after sustaining a broken leg during the Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven (via Metro), and while Louis van Gaal has other options available, the Metro suggest that some transfer activity in January is highly likely.
While Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor has been linked, van Gaal is hoping to use his strong relationship with Luis Enrique to try and force through a move for the 30-year-old.
Considering that the Red Devils are more likely to be searching for a short-term solution – provided that Shaw’s recovery goes to plan – it seems to make more sense to go after the Barcelona man, rather than the Leeds prospect.
Adriano also brings a versatility that will allow him to fill in right across the pitch, which will make him a much more useful option once Shaw returns.
