Manchester United expect to become the first English club to surpass the half-billion pound mark for revenue, before using their financial muscle to land some of the best players in the world, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils’ predict that they will make between £500m and £510m in revenue, which would take them above Real Madrid in football’s money table (via MEN). And to celebrate, they are hoping to lure one of Los Blancos’ key men away from the Bernabeu.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Premier League side are hoping to be the ones to sign Gareth Bale, should Madrid decide that they are willing to sell the Welshman.
However, just because the Old Trafford outfit have the finances to go after the world’s best, does not mean they always get their man. The MEN highlight that Ed Woodward has failed to bring Thomas Muller, Cesc Fabregas, and Bale himself to the club in the recent past.
Nevertheless, having the ability to spend the cash means that should a top player become available with little notice, it will be United that will be the ones that can do a deal with minimal fuss.
