Manchester United may have been given a big boost in the chase for one of their reported summer targets when January rolls around after the Daily Express reported that Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia has rejected a contract extension with the club.
The 29-year-old is said to be keen to secure a £2m-per-year with the Rome-based side, but a report in Italian publication Calciomercato claims that they undercut him by only offering him £1.8m.
Biglia knocked back the offer, and so far no talks over a new deal have taken place over an improved deal.
Lazio had set an asking price of £17.7m on the Argentine international’s head to dissuade potential suitors from making a bid during the transfer market.
It seemed to be enough to put off Man United, who ended up chasing Bayern Munich stalwart Bastian Schweinsteiger instead.
However, United officials are said to be keeping tabs on Biglia, and this latest development could prompt them into action in the new year.
