Manchester United are reportedly planning to make a £4m bid for Leeds United left-back Charlie Taylor, according to the Daily Star.
The Red Devils were hoping to prise one of the brightest talents in Uwe Rosler’s squad away in the summer, but due to the horrific injury sustained by Luke Shaw against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, the Premier League side now plan to make their bid in January (via Star).
The 21-year-old is now one of the first names on Rosler’s teamsheet, after establishing himself midway through last season.
Although there were concerns at Elland Road at the start of this campaign due to the lack of depth on the left-hand side of the back four, Taylor has alleviated many of those worries with a string of battling displays that have helped the Yorkshire club make a solid start to the new Championship season.
Despite his good form, it seems unlikely – even if he does move to their bitter rivals while Shaw is on the sidelines – that he will be Louis van Gaal’s first choice.
Marcos Rojo was the man who came on for the former Southampton defender against PSV, while Daley Blind has also got plenty of experience in that role. However, van Gaal may not want to shift the Dutchman, as he has formed a good partnership with Chris Smalling in the centre.
