Manchester United are still confident that they can agree a potential deal for Gareth Bale next summer, despite the ugly saga surrounding David de Gea, according to The Sun.
The goalkeeper appeared to be on the verge of moving to Real Madrid in the final hours of the window, only for the deal to collapse when some of the paperwork was filed late (via The Sun).
And with both clubs pointing the finger of blame at each other, and with United insisting that they will not be letting the 24-year-old go in January (via The Sun), it would not be a surprise if Los Blancos were not willing to do business with the Red Devils, regardless of who was actually to blame.
However, The Sun suggest that that has not dented Louis van Gaal’s confidence about getting a move done for the Welsh star.
The 26-year-old receives plenty of criticism last season, and became a scapegoat for Madrid’s struggles, and may decide that if he is unable to win the Madrid fans over, that a move to Old Trafford is a very attractive proposition.
