French journalist Frederic Hermel has claimed that he expects Manchester United target Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Real Madrid this summer, according to Le 10 Sport.
“I think Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid at end of season. I have information that confirms this,” he said.
According to Hermel, the Red Devils will face plenty of competition for the 30-year-old, with a move to Paris Saint-Germain or MLS being mooted (via Le 10 Sport).
The Ligue 1 champions may well be the favourites for his signature as they reportedly made an astonishing bid of £110m this summer (via Daily Mirror), however, he may find it difficult to turn down the chance to come back to Old Trafford.
And Louis van Gaal may find it difficult to reject the opportunity to go after his signature. The forward has made a blistering start to the new season, with eight goals coming in his first four games in all competitions for Los Blancos.
That form has seen him become Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer, cementing his legacy as a legend at the Bernabeu, and perhaps, leaving him with nothing else to achieve in Spain.
