Neymar is set to open new contact talks with Barcelona despite apparently telling friends that he wanted to leave the club, according to the Daily Express.
A report in the Daily Mirror claims that the Brazilian told his closest friends that he would be open to leaving the Catalan giants as he is not happy with his current contract.
Manchester United were known to be tracking the 23-year-old towards the end of the transfer window, but he ended up staying with the La Liga champions and now looks set to commit his future at the Nou Camp (via Express).
The Express goes onto explain that the new deal will likely see his wages rocket to over £200,000-per-week, which is double over what he is currently on and will make him the club’s second highest paid player behind Lionel Messi.
Neymar signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2013, and The Express suggest that there is a clause in his contract stating that his deal must be re-negotiated in his third season.
United are said to have made a bumper £240m offer for Neymar over the summer (via Independent), and should he commit his future to Barcelona he will become another player that the Red Devils failed to successfully pursue.
