Manchester United are set to follow up the seemingly imminent deal for Monaco forward Anthony Martial (via Metro), by making a £26.4m move for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu, according to Turkish Football.
Turkish Football report that according to pundit Ertem Sener, the Red Devils plan to make the late attempt to bring the attacking midfielder to Old Trafford, and are willing to make the huge offer to seal the move.
The 21-year-old has justified the amount of hype surrounding him at the moment by making a scintillating start to the new campaign.
While Roger Schmidt’s side were comfortably beaten by Bayern Munich, they have made a very promising start to the season, and Calhanoglu has been an integral part of that.
He bagged the winner in the victory over Hannover, and scored the opening goal of the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie with Lazio. Trailing 1-0 from the first clash, the Turkey international’s goal kick-started the fightback, as Leverkusen went on to win 3-0, and qualify for the group stage.
