Despite being named in Louis van Gaal’s Premier League squad, Victor Valdes still has no future at Manchester United, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The 33-year-old’s inclusion in the list – as well as his failure to agree an Old Trafford exit during the transfer window, despite nearly completing a move to Besiktas (via BBC Sport) – had fuelled rumours that he had buried the hatchet with his manager following their summer spat.
The Dutchman had claimed that the former Barcelona man – who only joined the club in January on an 18-month deal – had refused to play for the reserve side, despite featuring for the team on several occasions following his arrival, and was thus, allowed to leave (via MEN).
Although it may suggest that the Spaniard may be staying after all, his inclusion was simply done to comply with the regulations, which state that a player cannot be left off the list, should the club be unable to fill their full squad of 25 players (via MEN).
Even with Valdes – who has still not been given a squad number – the Red Devils are only able to name 21 players (via MEN).
