New Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has revealed that he joined the Red Devils because the lure of playing in the Premier League was too great to turn down, the Daily Express reports.
The 19-year-old became the world’s most expensive teenager when he completed his £36m deal to head to Old Trafford earlier on Tuesday (via Express).
The Express also reports that the deal could rise as high as £58m depending on add-ons.
Martial has now returned to France to link up with his international teammates ahead of this week’s Euro 2016 qualifiers, but has already admitted that he cannot wait to get going in Manchester.
“I’m so excited to join United,” Martial said.
“I’ve always wanted to play in the Premier League and look forward to meeting my team-mates.
“I don’t feel the pressure. I know there is pressure but I’m ready for it.
“I’m very happy because it’s a big club in England.
“I’m very proud. I’m very happy because I worked hard for this and my family is very happy about it.
“I spoke with the coach, Louis van Gaal, and I know that I need to work very hard.
“It’s not easy to speak about myself but I am a very fast player. I hope that everything will go well for me at this club.”
Elsewhere, it has been revealed that Martial will wear the number nine jersey this season (via Metro).
The club announced the news via their official Twitter account with a subtle but impressive tweet announcing his squad number.

He will take over from Radamel Falcao, who wore the number last term, and they will be hoping to get more out of Martial than they could muster from the Colombian.
