Premier League strugglers Aston Villa have emerged as shock contenders to sign Real Madrid winger Jese Rodriguez is the January transfer window, according to the Daily Express.
Reports in Spain claim the Villans attempted to prize the 22-year-old away from the Santiago Bernabeu over the summer, but following Villa’s slide into the bottom three manager Tim Sherwood is keen to make a second play for his signature in the new year.
Jese is also thought to be on Arsenal’s radar (via Express), as well as being watched by Italian giants Inter Milan and Napoli.
So far this season, the Spanish under-21 international has been reduced to just three appearances for Real, and his agent sparked interest from the Premier League earlier this week by insisting his client deserves to be playing regular football.
“He needs to play more, that’s the best way to keep his spirits up,” representative Gines Carvajal told Marca.
“The club will have to make a decision. He’s training well, he’s strong and has to seize the opportunity when it comes.”
