Arsenal have welcomed the news that star man Alexis Sanchez has not sustained any long term damage despite being forced off during Sunday’s victory over Manchester United, according to the Daily Express.
The Chilean international bagged himself two goals in the comprehensive 3-0 win at The Emirates, but was withdrawn on 80 minutes for Kieran Gibbs and then proceeded down the tunnel with physio Colin Gibbs.
Wenger confessed immediately after the game that he was conceded about Sanchez’s injury saying: “He has a little groin problem.
“Unfortunately he goes to Chile. You cannot stop him from going to Chile and he loves so much to play for his country and he will play against Brazil [on Friday] and Peru [next] Tuesday so the game at home against Brazil he will not want to miss.
“Hopefully he will come back in good shape.”
But a report in Chilean newspaper La Tercera claims that there is no lasting damage.
The paper got in touch with Arsenal’s medical team after concerns about the status of his injury, but were told there is no problem with the 26-year-old.
He will now be assessed by Chile’s medical team.
