Arsenal are said to be eager to beat Barcelona to the signature of in form Celta Vigo forward Nolito and will agree to pay the player’s £13.3m buy out clause in order to do so, according to the Metro.
The 28-year-old has been in phenomenal form so far this season, bagging himself five goals and three assists in the first six games.
He was a key part of Celta’s recent 4-1 demolition of Barcelona, with the Metro claiming that he put in the type of performance that highlighted why exactly the La Liga champions are so interested in him.
However, according to sources in Spain they may find their path blocked by Arsenal, who are more than willing to meet his £13.3m buyout fee in a bid to relieve the attacking burden from Alexis Sanchez.
Arsenal will need to act quickly, though, as the Metro states that Barcelona will look to put together a deal as soon as their transfer embargo comes to an end in the new year.
