Arsenal could be set to offer star forward Alexis Sanchez a new contract that would see him surpass Mesut Ozil as the club’s highest paid player, the Metro reports.
The Metro state that the Chilean international currently pockets £130,000-per-week at The Emirates Stadium, but the Gunners are now keen to offer him an improved deal just over 12 months on from bringing him to the club.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Mesut Ozil is also set to be offered a new deal as the club hope to prevent their two best players from entering the final two years of their respective deals.
Both Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla signed new extensions over the summer (via Metro) and it would represent a huge coup for Wenger and the fans if Arsenal are able to convince Sanchez and Ozil to commit their futures, too.
So far this season Sanchez has bagged six goals in ten games across all competitions.
