Besiktas president Fikret Orman has confessed that his side did indeed make an offer for to sign Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel during the summer transfer window, according to the Metro.
The 28-year-old has featured from the start just once in the Premier League this season and could be tempted to make a move away from Stamford Bridge when the transfer window re-opens in January.
And though it has emerged that the deal fell through over the summer, it could well be resurrected in the new year.
Speaking to Turkish publication Fanatik, Orman responded to questions on a deal for Mikel by saying: “If [manager] Senol Gunes had given the go ahead we were going to sign [Mikel] and we could enter the race again over the winter break.”
