Ajax manager Frank de Boer has hinted that he wants to be the next manager of Liverpool after describing them as a “fantastic club” before admitting that he is ready to move to the Premier League for a “new adventure”, the Daily Express reports.
The Dutchman did also pay tribute to Newcastle United, but it is his comments about The Reds that will resonate the most as current boss Brendan Rodgers comes under even greater pressure following a difficult start to the season.
Out of work managers Carlo Ancelotti and Jurgen Klopp have both been linked with the Liverpool job recently (via Express).
However, de Boer, who wants to finish the campaign with Ajax before moving on, hinted that the Anfield hot seat could interest him.
“They are fantastic clubs,” said De Boer, 45.
“Liverpool and Newcastle – with supporters behind them – it is a fantastic environment to coach but this year it is important for me to do well at Ajax and then we will see.”
A move to the England clearly appeals and De Boer said: “Yes, I think every year it comes closer of course.
“I’m looking maybe for another adventure. If there is an interesting club that I think with my quality I can make that team better – if I can, than I will take that chance.”
